In-School Mentoring

Today, employees increasingly value employers who proide time during the day where they can successfully contribute to their community by volunteering their time and skills. In-School Mentoring is a great program to reward dedicated employees with balanced time away from the office to mentor a child. The program also helps employees to gain a new life perspective as they are interacting with children who may be struggling with situations of bullying, family dysfunction or social stereotyping. Mentors play an active role coaching and encouraging youth.

Once screened and agency trained, each qualifiedstaff member mentors a child for one hour a week during the school year at an elementary school located near their Peel-based office or employee's home. It is suggested that new companies pilot this program with no more than 6 employees to begin. For companies that have 3 or more employees enrolling in the program, the interview and training process can take place at your office.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel has programs in over 78 schools across Peel Region ensuring that there is a school close to your office or employee's home.
