Erin Davis has been a fixture on the Canadian radio landscape for over 25 years. Her celebrated return to 98.1 CHFI in September of 2005 is the latest stop on a fascinating journey, which has seen her at or near the top of the radio ratings for her entire career. Erin's charitable works are numerous. She has been a fixture as a co-host on the Easter Seals Telethon every spring on CBC television and was recently honoured for her decade of service to this Ontario institution. Erin is a past member of the North York General Hospital Foundation Board and continues to host events for the hospital. She has also worked regularly for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (York Region), Sheena’s Place and the Children's Wish Foundation, for which she raised an astounding $160,000 in the summer of 1998, simply by shaving her head (thanks to the generosity of CHFI listeners)! Erin has been saluted by the Empire Club, Variety Club and Toastmasters International for her public service work and is a recipient of the Paul Harris fellowship, a Rotary honour recognizing the highest public service. Erin has been honoured for her many achievements. She was honoured to receive a Consumers Choice Award and was named 2006 Woman of the Year for the Greater Toronto Area. In 2002, Erin was named the year's first Chatelaine Woman Of Influence. In 2008, the first Erin Davis Women in Media bursary will be awarded to a student at Erin's alma mater, Loyalist College. This award was established by Erin and her family in part to recognize and assist promising media students, but also out of a deep sense of gratitude to Loyalist for having bestowed upon her an Honourary Degree in 2007. We look forward to welcoming Erin Davis on Friday May 1st as she shares her expereinces with us and enjoys a wonderful afternoon in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel. |
