- We get to know your child first so we can match them in the program that best meets their needs. This is achieved by completing a child and family assessment with yourself and your children. A Caseworker will call in advance to set up an appointment.
- The safety and well being of all children is a priority of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel and all home interviews include children and caregivers participating in a child safety presentation.
- Children enter our programs through the BIG BUNCH program which offers regular outings for children on the waiting list for the Group mentoring and One-to-One Friendship programs.
- Big Brothers and Big Sisters share 3-4 hours a week with their Little Brothers or Little Sisters for at least 1 year. Click on Our Programs to view all of our mentoring opportunities.
- The children in Group Mentoring meet weekly for activities and friendship ingroups of 10 children and 5 Group Leaders. Floor hockey, fishing, tobogganing, crafts and baking cookies are but a few examples of our activities.
- Our Caseworkers provide support to your family. Regular contact by phone and in-person occurs throughout the year.
- Children and their mentors are able to take part in our program-related group activities, summer picnic, Holiday party, and camp.
- Children in In-School Mentoring Program are referred by school social workers and principals at participating schools.
